pink jeans

Thursday:  I think I'm super strict with my colour palette.  Bright colours scare me a bit and while I like them in theory, in practise they freak me out and I just have to isolate them, visually; counteract a garish colour by drowning it in neutrals with the rest of my outfit.   Or, should that be, showcase? a garish colour by pairing it with "invisible" neutrals?  Hmmm, is either, or both more accurate?  I don't know!
So, pink jeans.   I love them, and have worn them a lot since I made them last year, but I've noticed I will only wear them with neutral tops, most usually white or ivory.  Fortunately I have plenty of these  ;)
I've just looked at these jeans when they were new, and boy have they faded!  They used to be soooo bright!

  1. That's a huge colour change within a year. Yet they look like they fit so nicely into your collection.

  2. I love bright colours and I feel comfortable on them, I think that this is the clue: feel comfortable. To contrast this kind of colour with neutrals it´s a good idea , you can try to combine with black, most of time I wear bright colours with black.

  3. These jeans looks great on you and wow they have faded, and it is probably more noticeable in a bright colour. I like your choice of neutrals but then what about a fabric combo that has that colour in it, might just work.

  4. I like your jeans alot! And I really like the faded look of them. I love dark colors, and will wear a pop of color w/ my dark clothes so I do not look like I am attending a funeral everyday.

  6. I Think The Combo Is Lovely. The Muted Pink Is Great, And I Remember That Trouser Top, Love It! My Go To Neutral Seems To Be Black, But Im Trying To Break Away From Too Much Black And Inject Colors In My Wardrobe :)

  7. I feel the same way about brights; I love them yet they scare me to death when I wear them too! :O

The pattern looks really awesome too!

  9. I love these jeans, and even more as they have aged a bit. Perhaps you know what colors complement you best, and keep the brights away from your flame touched hair.

  11. Now those jeans I love to bits! I would wear those tomorrow. Little secret: I am scared of yellow. People often throw it into a colourful crochet blanket and it looks great but I can't seem to do it. Scary Yellow, that is what it is like for me. Jo x

  12. Such cute jeans! I am struggling - with my weight loss, none of my pants fit and most patterns are too big and are not working for me. They are too baggy around the backside. I need to revisit this pattern and see if it will work for me in a smaller size. These look great on you!

  13. Love those jeans. :) If I wore trousers, I'd definitely need strawberry coloured ones.
I also usually pair my brights with a neutral colour, although for me that's navy. For some reason I think that light coloured neutrals really don't go well with my skin tone. And I'm also afraid of yellow. ;)

  14. Your jeans are looking great! I think there is no need to change the combination colours, your outfit looks totally fine and well balanced! I love wearing pink, too, and I also combine it with neutral tones - I made a try with dark blue recently, which worked fine, though.

  15. Whatever the reasoning behind your color combos, they are distinctly "you" and consistently lovely :)
And I continue to be impressed by the fact that your entire family looks so nattily dressed in your creations!

  18. I have a pair of pink jeans...and I'm waiting to style them on the blog. I like yours and I recognize my own tendency to pair them with neutrals. Once I wear them for the blog--i want to try to break out of that habit.

  21. If those are faded, they would be scary 'full strength'! I agree, brights need to be isolated in neutrals to work...I've never thought of it that way before.
